A traffic information bulletin issued by Glasgow City Council said: “Due to a serious police incident the following roads are currently closed until further notice.
LBC reporter Fraser Knight, who has been filming some of the videos of the accident, wrote on Twitter: “Reports of multiple stabbings in Glasgow City Centre and a potential major incident with upwards of 20 police vehicles, riot shields, armed officers and paramedics on West George Street.”
Footage taken from inside a building near West George Street shows two heavily armed officers running down the street as a uniformed colleague moves in the opposite direction.
Glasgow Police said: “Emergency services are currently dealing with an incident on West George Street in Glasgow.
“The street is currently closed off and the public are asked to avoid the area at present. The situation is contained at this time and there is no danger to the general public.
