Speculation is rife about the likelihood of a swift return to politics for the Trump bloodline, with many anticipating a 2022 senate run from Ivanka and a 2024 presidential bid from Donald. The tone of conversation has changed in recent weeks as Mr Trump’s daughter indicated she would not challenge Republican Senator for Florida Marco Rubio’s position in the 2022 GOP primary election.

However, commentators still believe the former first daughter has her heart set on a political career.

Spencer Critchley, a former communications consultant for Barack Obama’s campaigns, said: “It seems clear with the hints she’s dropped over the years that she thinks [running for office] is the logical next step.”

Mary Trump, cousin and fierce critic of the family, has aired less than complimentary beliefs about her extended family.

Speaking to Politico, she said Eric, Donald Jr and Ivanka are not qualified for politics.

Ms Trump, 55, said: “I think we should all resent having to have that conversation.

“Let’s put it this way: They have no qualifications, they have no skills.”

Mark Meadows, Mr Trump’s former chief of staff, has suggested the top GOP candidates for the next election process “have Trump as their last name”.

Donald Jr, the eldest child at 43, made headlines on Saturday when he posted an edited video showing his father knocking President Joe Biden down with a golf ball as he boarded Air Force One.

Troubling footage emerged of Mr Biden on Friday after he slipped while climbing the flight’s steep staircase.

The clip – captioned ‘It wasn’t the wind folks.’ – has been viewed 2.6 million times.

Donald Sr, 74, hinted he may run in the 2024 presidential election at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Orlando, Florida last month.

He also repeated unfounded allegations of widespread voter fraud in relation to this election loss to Mr Biden.

The former president told the audience: “I may even decide to beat them a third time.
