Players split their first two matches in four-week tennis event

Maybe it’s time to trim the Battle of Bradenton to a two-player draw.

For the third time in three weeks Sebastian Korda and Michael Mmoh have advanced to the final of the four-week event being held at the United Tennis Center.

Some of the names in the eight-player draws have changed over the weeks, but the results have remained the same.

Korda, 19, beat Mmoh, 22, in the final of the first week. Mmoh got his revenge last week in the battle between two of the top young American pro players. Today, the two will play for the third time.

Korda reached today’s final with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Vasil Kirkov on Friday. Mmoh followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Nicolas Mejia. Korda had advanced to the semifinals with a 6-3, 6-1 in over William Bushamuka on Thursday while Mmoh advanced with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Juncheng Shang.

The final week of the series will begin Thursday and conclude July 4.
