Prince William may be a passionate advocate for environmentalism but there is one thing he will never tell people to do, according to a spokesperson from Kensington Palace.
The royal will shortly be travelling to Singapore for the 2023 Earthshot Awards on November 7, which will see the five winners receive a £1million grant to help support their projects to fight climate change.
He will be flying commercially, as he would reportedly “never tell people not to get on planes”, in spite of their negative impact on the planet.
The Palace said in a statement: “The Earthshot Prize is about finding innovative solutions that are going to help scale and change the future direction of planet, and what he or the Earthshot Prize will never do, is tell people not to get on planes and not to get in their cars.
“We’re not looking back to the Ice Age, we’re looking forward to the Green Age. It’s really important that instead of focusing on prevention, we can actually focus on the opportunity.”

As their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte cheered on from the sidelines, eight boats competed in the race – four each for the Prince and Princess.
Each boat represented one of the charitities selected by the royal couple to benefit from the event, with William supporting Child Bereavement UK, Centerpoint, London’s Air Ambulance Charity 30th Anniversary campaign and Tusk, while Kate opted for the Royal Foundation, Action on Addiction, Place 2 Be and the Anna Freud Centre.
In the end the boat skippered by Bear Gryllys for wildlife charity Tusk was the victor, with William this time beating his wife.
