Upon arrival, the Pearland Police Department found five people had been injured. They were taken to local hospitals where one of the children was pronounced dead at around 9.30pm.
Highway 35 was closed from Knapp Road to Beltway 8 while officers investigated. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Officer Chad Rogers from Pearland PD, said: “Tonight at about 5.34pm the Pearland Police Department was dispatched to 1014 northbound, which is a location of Cole’s Flea Market, in regards to a shooting that was taking place at the flea market. Upon arrival officers located five victims
“All five victims were transported to local hospitals. There were three adults and two children that were victims and transported to local hospitals.
“Initial investigation is revealing that the shooting occured, started as a disturbance between two individuals that resulted in the shooting that took place at Cole’s Flea Market.
“This does not appear to be a targeted attack on the flea market. Again, this was a disturbance that occured at the flea market between two individuals in which shots were fired.”
Officer Rogers said officers were unsure how many shots were fired or if there were multiple weapons involved in the disturbance. However, officers are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
