Premium bonds can provide holders of them with cash prizes, which can range from £25 all the way up to £1million. July’s winners have been revealed and one of the jackpot winners bought their winning bond very recently.
People can have multiple premium bonds under their name and as such, NS&I has a system in place for effective management.
Premium bonds are grouped under a single holder’s number, making it easier for people to keep track of what they hold.
A person’s holder’s number will have either 10 or nine digits, or eight digits followed by a letter.
This holder’s number can be found by logging into NS&Is online service and checking the premium bonds account details page.
Every year, NS&I produce a lst of all the bond numbers of all unclaimed prizes.
This list dates all the way back to June 1957.
Any prize that remains uncashed for 18 months is classed as unclaimed.
Fortunately, NS&I will hold onto all prizes until they are claimed and there is no time limit in place for this.
