Prince Philip was so angry when pictures emerged showing Sarah, Duchess of York in a compromising situation with her lover John Bryan in 1992 that he banned Fergie from events. Fergie was forced to stay in a farmhouse when visiting the Royal Family. Speaking to the Channel 5 documentary, Beatrice and Eugenie: Pampered Princesses?, royal expert Richard Kay said Fergie would not stay in Sandringham House.
Narrator Glynis Barber said: “Fergie was reportedly banished by Prince Philip from family gatherings making life difficult for the princesses.”
Royal expert Wesley Kerr added: “Christmases at Sandringham is a big family occasion and suddenly Sarah Ferguson wasn’t there.
“That must have been very hard to understand when they were young girls. Why isn’t mummy allowed in the big house anymore.”
Mr Kay said “She was banished to a farmhouse on the Sandringham estate.

“The girls obviously spent time with her and slept there but then on Christmas Day Andrew would come and collect them and take them to church and take them up to Sandringham House for lunch with the rest of the Royal Family.
“Meanwhile Fergie was having a turkey twizzler all on her own.”
Philip also “refused” to help Fergie’s dad, Major Ron Ferguson, after the polo manager was hit by a huge scandal.
In 1988 he was photographed entering the Wigmore Club, a massage parlour which “allegedly offered à la carte sexual services to members”, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Major Ferguson lost his position at Guards Polo Club, but claimed he was not “sacked or resigned”.
He said he was just no re-elected and was “not prepared to accept the alternative position”.
Prince Philip, who was president of the club, refused to help.
Mail on Sunday Royal Editor Emily Andrews added: “He kept asking to meet Philip, his daughter’s father-in-law, and Philip refused because of the associated taint.
“Unfortunately he had become basically persona non grata.”
