Samsung takes on Sonos with the release of its new TV boosting soundbars

Samsung’s 4K and 8K TVs offer some of the best visuals in the business but now the firm also wants to boost the audio credentials of its televisions via some striking new soundbars. Hot on the heels of Sonos, who recently released its Arc surround speaker and already sells the hugely-popular Beam soundbar, the new Samsung sound boosters arrive packed with technology designed to bring a more immersive experience to your living room.

Samsung is boasting that its new S60T and S61T will provide the most natural room-filling sound with them both featuring dual-sided horn speakers and state-of-the-art acoustic beam technology.

This should help the sound move around and fill the room, eliminating the need for added speakers. The new gadgets also include Adaptive Sound, which helps Samsung deliver an optimised audio experience no matter what you’re watching on the big screen.

That means whether you’re viewing an action-packed movie or late-night TV show, the Adaptive Sound function analyses the audio in real-time to automatically enhance voice clarity, so if it is a quiet scene with voices low, the sound will be perfectly adjusted so users will be able to hear the everything clearly.

Other sound-boosting features include a Music Mode which adapts the audio for the perfect playlist playback and there’s full smart compatibility with Amazon Alexa built-in so you can simply ask for your music to be boomed out.

As well as sounding good, both soundbars have also been designed to fit in with your home. Samsung says the design is refined by Kvadrat acoustic material, who are global leaders in contemporary textiles.

The S-Series are wrapped in fabric to give them a softer look and help fit in with most interior spaces. If these soundbars look a bit big for living space then there’s a smaller option also arriving soon.

Launching later this month is the S40T which is a smaller and more compact version. This soundbar also boasts features that maximise user experience, from being able to wirelessly connect up to two devices simultaneously via Bluetooth multi-connect so users can quickly and easily switch from one device to the other, to ensuring whatever the content is, each scene is constantly optimised by AI through the Smart Sound feature.

The S60T and S61T are on sale now for £399 with the S40T launching later in July.
