Ukraine special forces take out 'many Russians' at key Crimea base in stealth mission

Ukrainian special forces have struck a big blow to the Russians after taking out some of Moscow’s men during a landing operation in occupied Crimea.

HUR (Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate) reported on Telegram on Thursday: “Stuhna and Brotherhood Special Forces, as part of the HUR’s special unit under Tymur, landed on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula, inflicting a fire strike on Moscow invaders.”

The HUR statement also reiterated that Ukraine aims to reclaim Crimea, which has been occupied by Russian troops since 2014.

This operation comes after a similar one in August, where Ukrainians and Russians clashed in the air as Kyiv carried out a successful landing operation.

Andriy Yusov, the HUR spokesperson, said that as a result of the HUR special operation, which was supported by the Ukrainian Navy, Ukrainian reconnaissance units had damaged four high-speed boats and eliminated at least 30 Russian invaders in occupied Crimea.

He added: “There was a battle with the Russian occupiers; many were killed and wounded among the invaders’ personnel. Unfortunately, there are losses among Ukrainian defenders too, though these are still not as many as among the Russians.”

The Ukrainian Armed Forces now regularly launch attacks on Russian-occupied Crimea. Sevastopol, a key city in Crimea, experienced a series of powerful explosions on Sept. 22, when a missile strike destroyed the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, a crucial military installation in the region.

Reports suggest that British Storm Shadow missiles were used in this operation. Special Operations Forces operatives ensured the missiles hit the building during a briefing held for the senior leadership of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

It was reported this week that Russia’s Black Sea Fleet withdrew from annexed Crimea to southern Russia after Ukrainian attacks in the region.

The Bell reported that frigates Admiral Essen and Admiral Makarov, three submarines, five large landing ships, and several small missile ships are now moored in the port of Novorossiysk in Russia’s Krasnodar region.
